Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most often, answered briefly. If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer it directly.
Training
What training does Insitu SL offer?
Second-language training for adults in a professional setting: French as a second language and English as a second language. Depending on the learner's needs, training may focus on reading comprehension, written expression, oral interaction, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Is training one-to-one or in a group?
Both. Sessions can be one-to-one or in a small group, and the two can be combined within a single programme where someone needs targeted catch-up.
Is training delivered online?
Yes. All regular training has been delivered online since 2020, live on Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Are workplace sessions possible?
Yes, on request. It is an option rather than the default mode of delivery.
Assessment preparation
Do you offer second-language assessment preparation?
Yes. Assessment preparation is integrated into a training plan adapted to the learner's level, professional objectives and language needs.
What can preparation cover?
Depending on needs: understanding instructions, reading strategies, organizing responses, oral interaction, language accuracy, fluency and time management.
What is the difference between preparation and language maintenance?
Preparation works toward a deadline: an assessment ahead. Maintenance works over time: keeping a level already reached usable once the assessment is behind you. Either can be the subject of a programme.
Does Insitu administer federal public-service second-language evaluations?
No. Insitu provides language training and assessment preparation but does not administer the federal public service's official second-language evaluations.
How training works
How are needs identified?
Through an assessment of the actual level, before any training is proposed. It is free and carries no commitment.
Can training be adapted to professional objectives?
Yes. The programme is built from the starting level, the objective and the communication demands of the position.
How is the learning plan structured?
Identify needs, define objectives, structure the learning plan, practise and receive feedback, then adjust the training as progress develops.
Is it the same teacher from one session to the next?
Insitu aims to provide instructional continuity where possible while adapting training arrangements to the needs of the learning plan.
Organizations
Do you work with organizations?
Yes. Insitu SL trains employees of federal departments and agencies, among others, as well as organizations whose people serve the public in both official languages.
How do we request a proposal?
Write to us with who the training is for, the objective, and the deadline if there is one. Participants are assessed before a group plan is written.
Noubya LMS
What is Noubya LMS?
A digital learning platform being prepared by Insitu SL, intended to extend the work between live sessions.
Is it available today?
No. Noubya LMS is coming soon and is not yet open to learners. Live training with a teacher remains the service on offer.
